| Farewell Dinner for Dean of the San Francisco Consular Corps | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Friends and officials gathered at the Trocadero House, Stern Grove, San Francisco, California, to bid a fond farewell to the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, The Honorable Ruprecht Henatsch and Mrs. Veronika Henatsch. Consul General and Mrs. Henatsch retire from the diplomatic corps after an extraordinarily long posting of seven years in San Francisco. Guests were treated to a casual German buffet supper, group singing around an outdoor bonfire, and a theme of American red, white and blue flags. America's Champion "Town Crier" prepared a special farewell speech to give tribute to the Henatsch's many contributions to the social, educational and cultural life of the Bay Area. Ambassador Henatsch has had a long and distinguished career. After completing his studies of law, history, and international relations at the Universities of Munich, Innsbruck, Geneva, Aix-en-Provence, and Wurzburg, he earned a Master of Arts degree at Stanford University as a Fulbright Scholar. His distinguished career included postings as the German Embassy Attaché', Oslo, Norway; Consul at the German Consulate General, Hong Kong; Deputy Chief of Mission at the German Embassies of Khartoum, Sudan and Teheran, Iran. He was appointed German Ambassador to Kampala, Uganda before completing his diplomatic career in San Francisco. He and Mrs. Henatsch are retiring to Bonn, Germany. |
